The App Store on my non-Mojave capable Mini running High Sierra wouldn't let me download anything. Maybe it can save somebody some grief in the future. Their instructions all assumed you had the 6+ GB worth of Mojave content already on your machine.įWIW here is an update on what I've tried. I went and pulled up five different references on how to create Mojave USB installers and not a single one of them mentioned this minimal installer at all. This time with Mojave, all I’m getting for 'Install macOS Mojave' when I download from the App Store onto my Sierra machine is a 22.8 MB “minimal” installer.ġ) Am I correct in assuming that this minimal installer goes out and downloads the remainder of the Mojave OS installation content?Ģ) Will it be obvious when the downloading has completed and I can quit out of the installer app to go create the USB installer via terminal? I just want to be sure that I do *not* actually begin an in-place upgrade.ģ) Does the content downloaded by the minimal installer end up inside of the same ‘Install macOS Mojave’ app bundle I already have?Īpologies for the rudimentary questions. I’ve created USB installer drives for Sierra and High Sierra in the past so I’m familiar with the general process.
